About HydroMetrics™

HydroMetrics offers real-time groundwater monitoring and puts the tools into the hands of land owners and businesses so they can become environmental guardians of their land and water.

In 2015 our scientists were working on a remote site in the South Island of New Zealand. They needed to install several groundwater nitrate sensors to monitor concentrations at their fieldwork site. But they found affordable nitrate sensors to be non-existent and realised this was a significant barrier to dealing with the issue of nitrate in waterways. How can we manage the issue if we can’t even afford to measure it? Our engineers and scientists took it upon themselves to create a solution. Working alongside hydrogeologists they designed and developed a low-cost optical nitrate sensor.

Accurate and affordable, these robust groundwater nitrate sensors are specifically built for environmental, agricultural and industrial uses. The HydroMetrics sensor is specifically designed to withstand rugged outdoor environments and can be installed and left in-field for months at a time and transmit real-time data via telemetry to any device.

Our sensors have since been used in numerous central and regional government funded programmes throughout New Zealand; and internationally by private clients in water management, R&D, and primary and processing sectors.

Designed for everyday use by everyday people, our sensors have been used by many businesses such as rural farming, potable water, irrigation schemes, horticulture, and research purposes.

HydroMetrics sensors offer real-time groundwater monitoring and puts the tools into the hands of land owners and businesses so they can become environmental guardians of their land and water.

HydroMetrics is a division of Lincoln Agritech Ltd, a research and development company owned by Lincoln University, New Zealand.
